Certificate for cavity geomembrane
Drain membrane is a flexible insulating moisture-proof thermoplastic material made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). It is a profiled sheet (with a cavity surface on one side and studded – on another) of black color. Flexx company sells it in rolls 20 m long and 2 m wide.
Why drain membranes are necessary
High-quality drain membrane, offered at a bargain price by our company, is widely used in the construction industry. In some cases, it can replace the standard waterproofing layer or supplement it. Due to hollow studs located throughout the surface area, uniform pressure distribution is ensured. This excludes point deformations almost entirely. The drain membrane installation also allows you to:
- protect the foundation or the main waterproofing layer from moisture and organize water discharge into a drainage pipe;
- level the base for further laying of monolithic slabs;
- reduce loads produced by groundwaters and soil on the waterproofing layer of underground structures;
- protect the waterproofing layer of the “roofing pie” from damage.
Cavity drain membrane advantages
Manufactured in accordance with technological standards, drain membranes are completely safe for the environment and do not emit harmful substances while in service. Due to high strength and elasticity values, the material is suitable for the implementation of various construction scenarios. For greater reliability, they are combined with sand, waterproofing, and TMT bars. Profiled drain membrane advantages include:
- chemical inertness – deepened building structures are often exposed to groundwaters with a high concentration of dissolved salts action, but the membrane is resistant to substances with an acidic and alkaline reaction;
- mechanical stability, low susceptibility to static and vibration loads – membranes are characterized by high (at least 170-240 N / 50 mm) stretching resistance and are able to protect the foundation from plant roots;
- elasticity – the coating will remain intact in case of ground shifts or shrinks;
- the use in a wide temperature range: from -40 to +80°C. The protective drain membrane can be installed in almost any climatic conditions;
- possible installation without preliminary preparation of the base;
- waterproofing effect;
- durability. The membrane does not lose its original characteristics for 50 years or more if the rules and installation technology are observed.
Where to use cavity drain membranes
The manufacturer offers to buy a drain membrane for the arrangement of accessible roof areas, construction of underpasses, basements and cellars. It is also used in paving, irrigation canal development, landscaping work (preserving the relief area, extending the service life of garden paths and driveways), and bridge building. Membranes are more and more actively used in the private cottages and industrial facilities construction. They are indispensable for complex protection to reduce soil moisture levels and ensure its stability, to exclude movements and shifts.
Drain profiled membrane installation
To ensure that the drain membrane fully performs the functions assigned, it is important to install it correctly, in compliance with technological standards. If the material is used to ensure moisture drainage on maintained roofs or blind area systems – it should be laid with the studs facing outward. To protect the waterproofing layer from damage, the membrane is mounted with studs facing it. Plastic dowels or nails are used to fix the sheets to the foundation or wall. Edge strips are fixed on top.
