Roofing membrane is a modern building material that is used to protect structures located below. It is a single-layer polymer sheet with cavities on the one side and studs, protrusions – on the other. The material is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Flexx company offers to buy membrane for roof at an attractive price per meter.

Why roofing membranes are necessary

The accessible roof area is one of the interesting and popular modern trends. It looks unusual and allows you to arrange a recreation area on the roof. It can even be decorated with a lawn and flower beds. However, it is especially important to achieve high rates of moisture protection of internal building structures, otherwise, there might be leaks, deterioration of the indoor microclimate, and service life reduction of building materials. To avoid possible problems, experts recommend buying a waterproofing membrane for roof at a relatively low price. Hollow studs allow high-quality collection and drainage of precipitation, while the waterproof base prevents water leakage into lower layers of the “roofing pie”.

A waterproofing membrane for roof can perform a variety of tasks, providing:

  • effective moisture protection;
  • additional sound and heat insulation;
  • even load distribution throughout the area;
  • water drainage into drainage channels for further roof water disposal.

Advantages of a cavity geomembrane for roof

A membrane for roofing is a waterproof material that ensures complete protection from water penetration provided that installation technology is observed. At the same time, it is lightweight and doesn’t add any extra load. Other roofing membrane advantages include:

  • chemical resistance. The sheet is resistant to acid or alkaline solutions. It is not afraid of rain and melt water, which may contain aggressive components;
  • durability, flexibility, and elasticity. The geomembrane for roofing is characterized by high (from 170 to 240 N / 50 mm, depending on the density) stretching resistance, good longitudinal and transverse load-deflection;
  • thermal resistance. The polymer membrane can be installed on the roof almost all year round. The material is operated in the temperature range from -40 to +80°C;
  • resistance to biological destruction. The drain membrane for roofing would not become a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi;
  • long service life. High-quality roll material will serve at least 50 years;
  • ease of installation. To obtain an effective protective layer, one has to follow the installation rules.

Roofing membranes installation

Modern roll waterproofing membrane is to be installed on the prepared base. One should first lay the Aquaizol polymer-bitumen layer and dense (300 g/m2) geotextile layer. The latter should be laid taking into account the height of the future backfill. Lines of juncture should be carefully taped with double-sided polypropylene tape. Then, a waterproofing membrane for roofing layer is laid. The joint is performed stud-to-stud (with a small overlap) and the lines of juncture are taped with double-sided butyl rubber tape. Geotextile can be used as an additional drainage layer. After that, a layer of fill material is applied: peddle stone, crushed stone, and gravel. When implementing a green roof project, a special fertile substrate is poured and then the lawn is laid.

NB: To ensure moisture accumulation for its further evaporation into the soil with plants, sheets are laid with the studs down.

Where to buy a roofing membrane in Ukraine

Flexx online store offers products from the manufacturer, which determines the attractive cost of roofing membrane. It is sold in rolls 2 m wide and 20 m long. The stud height is 8 mm. For the convenience of customers, the price is specified per square meter and roll. Customers can opt for Nova Poshta delivery across Ukraine or pickup when placing their orders on the waterproofing membrane for roof.
